Janus

You’ve heard of JANUS – and if you haven’t, YOU WILL. These guys are already in the bloodstream of alternative rock music with a breed of sound that was in no way accidentally crafted. David Scotney (Vocals), Johnny Salazar (Drums), Alan Quitman (Bass) and Mike Tyranski (Guitar/Programming) have already broken through and once again PEV is lucky enough to talk with a band before they’re friggin’ worldwide huge.

7dayBinge

7dayBinge could be the best SuperGroup you’ve yet to listen to (if you haven’t already found them) – with what we consider a musical all-pro team of Todd Harrell of 3 Doors Down on bass, Jon Nicholson of the Muzik Mafia on guitar and vocals, Kenny Olson of Kid Rock’s band on lead guitar, and Shannon Boone on drums, these guys are making rock music that recognizes its roots and finds new ways to define rock at the same time.

The Alumni

The Alumni are as good as the story of how the two met – they’ve been called “musical geniuses” in their work together, and that’s not a self title.

The Threds

The Threds really are about blending it together – complete with five songwriters and three vocalists on a single stage. Greg Riley (guitar, harmonica, percussion, and vocals), Jeff Broadfoot (keys and vocals), Ben Andrews (bass and vocals), Eddie Aldridge (lead guitar) and Jason Randolph (drums and vocals) may have come across their moniker by accident, but it makes more than little sense to these talented friends.

Ike Reilly

One of PEV’s favorite labels has done it again with gritty singer/songwriter Ike Reilly – Rock Ridge Music just seems to pull some of the most interesting talent on the indy scene. Well, interesting doesn’t really begin to describe Mr. Reilly. We most enjoyed his answer when we asked about his creative environment: “A chaotic, low paying, drunken, loveless environment.” Sounds like our kind of party!

Curtains For You

Seattle-based Curtains For You is kinda like an All-Star team for musicians – full of guys who excel at so many things in the industry – on the stage and behind it. They have audio engineers working with U2 and Nas, songwriters that appear on NPR’s “All Song’s Considered” and the swagger to record their latest EP live at London Bridge Studios, home to past records from bands like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.

Ace Noface

Ace Noface is a story that, while heartbreaking at times, is truly uplifting. And I’m not fit to tell his tale. Below is his story, in his own words:

Kyle Hollingsworth

What’s not to like about Kyle Hollingsworth – the guy can make just about musical genre come alive, he’s been shaking down the music industry for decades, he has the same initials as our director of communications and best of all, he drops phrases like this one during interviews: “Love Baltimore!! Always get a great reception when I come to town.” Like I said – there’s pretty much nothing to dislike about this guy.

Jonathan Byrd

Rachel Taylor Brown

When Rachel Taylor Brown gets into a song – she owns it absolutely – she knows where it’s going, where it’s been and where it was at 7pm last Tuesday night.
