LMFAO

Well here we go again – PEV finds itself lucky enough to get a hold of an artist just before their worldwide explosion… well, maybe we caught up with LMFAO after the explosion… but nonetheless, the duo of Red Foo and Sky Blu are taking their life philosophy and running with it hard – “’Laughing My F*****g Ass Off.’ We picked that name to remind us to always have a humorous outlook on life. It reminds us that these songs have a goal. They tell jokes, they tell stories to make people laugh. We make songs to make people laugh, dance or party.” And since smashing MySpace with “I’m in Miami Bitch”, their party hasn’t stopped.

The tunes off of the iTunes-released “Party Rock” EP have been re-played well over 2 million times on their myspace page (myspace.com/lmfaouno); “Party Rock” also sharing its name with their label (via the will.i.am Music Group and Interscope Records), clothing line and “general outlook on any given day.” If you’ve been to a club worth a salt lately, you’ve heard LMFAO. That’s how it is. Red Foo expands on what to expect from the music on “Party Rock”:  They can expect to be inspired. They can expect to feel different things. They are going to laugh a little bit or think of a past relationship. But what it really comes down to is a social album. They are going to play it with their friends and it really will make you a more social person. We think it could change someone’s life like it changed ours.”

LMFAO’s future schedule is pretty unreal – they’re going to be featured on the Real World: Cancun, keeping fans updated via their YouTube channel, working with their clothing line and their site PartyRockPeople.com, even possibly working with the likes of Lady Gaga, DJ Spacecowboy, The Paradiso Girls, even one of my favorites: Chris Cornell. All of this… and touring tirelessly at the same time. Insane. There’s a lot more below, so dive into the XXQ’s.

PEV (Richie F.): How you doing?

Red Foo:  Doing great!

PEV (Richie F.):  Where did we catch you guys?

Red Foo:  We are in Vancouver, at the hotel near where we are going to perform.

PEV (Richie F.):  How is touring going for you?

Red Foo:  Touring is great. We are on the Canadian tour and have already done about four or five gigs. The Canadians could be our biggest fans! Each show has a little more energy than our shows back in the states, we don’t know why. Merch is selling like crazy and people are screaming as we walk to the venue… it’s really fun out here.

PEV (Richie F.):  So you guys like life on the road then?

Red Foo:  Oh, we love the road. That’s home.

PEV (Richie F.):  What are the best and worst parts about being on the road?

Red Foo:  Definitely getting to party with our whole entire crew and getting to meet everyone with that party vibe that makes up our “party people.”

PEV (Richie F.):  Were you guys taken about with the strong showing your debut record has had?

Red Foo:  Well, we had high expectations and we know that selling records is just another piece of the puzzle. We feel we have the strongest record out there right now and you can hear at least three or four of our songs on in the club on any given night.  We know selling records is a big part of this, too, but we have done pretty well considering it is hard to find our record at any retail store. As popular as we are in Canada, we haven’t been able to find our record in the stores up here! ITunes has been a big help for us to get our music out to the people.

PEV (Richie F.):  Listening to the album, I know it’s great and has a lot of guest appearances on it, but what can fans that haven’t heard this album yet expect?

Red Foo:  They can expect to be inspired. They can expect to feel different things. They are going to laugh a little bit or think of a past relationship. But what it really comes down to is a social album. They are going to play it with their friends and it really will make you a more social person. We think it could change someone’s life like it changed ours.

PEV (Richie F.):  How have your friends and family reacted to your careers?

Red Foo:  It’s funny because I have a sister, and I was the last one to get food and stuff, but now I’m the favorite!

Blu Sky: I have two sisters and I’m big favorite now, too!

PEV (Richie F.):  Then it’s working out pretty nice for you then!

Blu Sky: Yes sir!

PEV (Richie F.):  When you guys aren’t busy with your careers, what can we find you doing in your spare time?

Red Foo:  When we have some downtime from our tour, we try to find the local “hot-spot” in each city. No matter what it is, whether it’s miniature golf or the mall. We often have PS3 soccer tournaments. I like doing things that involve competition.

PEV (Richie F.):  Have you come across a certain group or artist that you think we should be looking out for?

Red Foo:  Yeah, there is a LA group called “FM.” It seems some people get inspired by us and a lot of people think their song, “Girls on the Dance Floor” is our song. I mean, when we get up on stage, it’s more of an art form than a performance and this group is starting to get that. And it’s great. Their show is a really fun show. Also, I really like Chromeo. They’re up and coming and have a really cool show. Oh oh oh! Also David Rush! He has the song “shooting Star.” And of course Pitbull has a great show.

PEV (Richie F.):  What does LMFAO stand for?

Red Foo:  “Laughing My F*****g Ass Off.” We picked that name to remind us to always have a humorous outlook on life. It reminds us that these songs have a goal. They tell jokes, they tell stories to make people laugh. We make songs to make people laugh, dance or party. We feel like we are engineers and that name keeps us on track.

PEV (Richie F.):  What is next for LMFAO?

Red Foo:  We might be doing some stuff with Lady Gaga, DJ Spacecowboy and the Paradiso Girls. So we are putting that together. We are going to be featured on a Real World: Cancun episode, number 7, August 5th. We also have the title track for Keeping Up With the Kardashians. And just touring and taking our show to the next level. Following the footsteps of Michael Jackson, making our shows that incredible while keeping our individuality. We also have this thing on the web called PartyRockPeople.com, which is kind of my obsession right now. We want to make it like MySpace of Facebook for our band where users join and upload pics and videos. It is also highly integrated with Twitter. So anything you upload will become a Tweet. This week we hopefully lunch a ratings system where members can rate the uploaded content. We really want to do the whole “band-to-fan” thing. Man, the reason we are in this position to party with everyone and travel the country is because of the people!
